Yvonne Eunice Herbert passed away on November 26, 2020 after a 2 year battle with cancer. She was born on September 12, 1939, the daughter of Glenn Clark and Katheryn Schwartzkopf and grew up in Denver, Colorado. She married Kent Alan Herbert in March of 1965 and they enjoyed 30 years of marriage before Kent’s death in 1995. Immediate family include son Derek, wife Deanna and children Cheyanne and Saige; son Trent, wife Angella and children Valerie and Zachary; and daughter Darcy, husband Steve and children Kyra and Logan. Her family meant everything to Yvonne and she is most known for how special she always made everyone feel and how generous she was.
Yvonne graduated from the University of Denver with a Bachelor’s degree in Music Education and later received a Master of Arts degree from Adams State University. She worked as an instrumental music teacher for several years before moving to Fairplay, Colorado where she continued teaching for several years. She was very passionate about helping kids learn and grow and was incredibly creative in the way she would get kids to engage.
Yvonne was a talented piano player and was known for playing for school concerts, for her church and for the South Park Community Chorale. She loved the Colorado Symphony Orchestra and was a regular attendee. Her faith was incredibly important to her and was a long time member of Trinity Presbyterian Church in Arvada where she served as both a deacon and an elder and led the Senior Bible Study Group and the Fellowship Committee for many years.
Yvonne is known for her creativity, her independent and resourceful spirit, her faithfulness, her generosity and her servant heart. She never sought the limelight but served others because she wanted to lift them up. She used all of her talents and creativity to make the best possible experience for others whether it was while teaching or planning and hosting a picnic or holiday event.
Yvonne will be missed by her family, her friends and those that were touched in some way during her life. There are 4 words that sum up Yvonne’s life: servant, family, generosity and faith. Her devotion to family was unwavering. Her belief in God was her foundation and her faithfulness was always in honor of God. Her generosity and serving ways will always be remembered by all of those that she touched.
Memorial donations may be made in honor of Yvonne to a charity of choice.
Services will be held on December 1, 2020 at Olinger Chapel Hill Mortuary at 6601 S. Colorado Blvd, Centennial, CO at 9:30am. Due to COVID restrictions, only immediate family is allowed.
