We were deeply saddened to learn of Alec’s passing. Peter also worked for Metal Box which is how we first met. When, in 1979 Peter became the President of Metal Box America, the Hewett family moved from England to Westport, Ct and Alec was one of the first visitors to the new Head Office. In the following years the Hewetts were privileged to join Alec and Mary Lee  and their delightful children  Robbie, Gratia Lee, Duncan and Gillian (although never all at the same time!) in Bridgehampton. Our memories of those visits are rich and lasting. Valerie and Peter stayed in touch with Alec and Mary Lee over the years with visits to Riverside and visited Alec in Essex Meadows. Alec was the most admirable of friends; generous, kind, funny and possessed of that rare quality, integrity. He was the perfect gentleman. We shall miss him greatly but will, most certainly, never forget him.

It was with profound sorrow to learn of the sad demise of Mr. Alexander Robertson, Jr.  We have known him for a long time and shared many happy hours together.  We particularly remember our visit to his Colorado home when we went skiing in the area in 1978.  Alec and MaryLee together with family were gracious hosts for us and we enjoyed our get-together enormously.  Unfortunately I did not have a chance to meet him recently but we kept in touch, and I always valued his friendship.  Alec lived a rich and full life, surrounded by the love of his family and admiration and respect of his friends all over the world.  He will be sorely missed by all those who were fortunate to know him.  We extend our condolences to the entire family of our dear friend.

Tom and I were so saddened to learn of Alec's passing.  Alec and MaryLee rented our Essex house after leaving Greenwich and while waiting for a spot at Essex Meadows.  We were the luckiest landlords on earth both because they were wonderful tenants but more so because we got to know them both.  Alec was the quintessential gentleman and a joy to engage in conversation.  I continued to connect with him with Xmas cookies in hand for a few years and thought of him when arranging a string quartet performance at Essex Meadows.  He gallantly sat with me for the performance and we were able to catch up.  COVID isolated all of us these  past two years so I was doubly saddened that we hadn't been able to see each other during this time.  I will always remember him as a fun-loving, elegant, authentic gentleman and will miss him.  If I had my way I would have cloned him!!!  The world will be a lesser space without his presence.
