

Cathleen Gano Keogh who lived a life of faith, love and devotion to family and friends died at home on June 12th at the age of 89. She was a resident of Essex, CT and had previously lived in Old Lyme, CT and Larchmont, NY. Cissie, as named by her brother as a baby, was born on February 13, 1934 in Brooklyn, New York. She was predeceased by her parents, Cathleen Moore Gano (nee Baxter) and C. William Gano, and her brother, C. William Gano Jr. of Memphis TN. She is survived by her sons Tom, Bill (Andrea) and John, daughter Katie and ten loving grandchildren. The love of her life and husband for 59 years, Thomas F Keogh, died in 2017. Cissie studied at Eden Hall in Torresdale, PA and The Duchene Residence School in New York. She married Thomas F Keogh in 1957 and they made their home in Larchmont for 40 years.
In Larchmont, Cissie was active in several charitable and civic organizations including St Augustine’s Church and the Golden Shoestring of the Junior League. She enjoyed a successful, 25-year career in residential real estate serving clients, many of them, multiple times. In 1995 she and Tom relocated to Old Lyme, CT where they lived happily with both old and new friends, and their young grandchildren. They ventured many miles, from The Canadian Maritimes to The West Indies with friends and family aboard their sailboat Resistance. Cissie was a Dame of Malta. Her memberships included The Old Lyme Beach Club, The Old Lyme Country Club, The Larchmont Yacht Club, The New York Yacht Club and The Cruising Club of America. .
A Celebration of her life will be offered at Christ The King Church in Old Lyme on June 16th, 2023, at 11 am. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made, in Cissie’s memory, to High Hopes Therapeutic Riding Center in Old Lyme, CT.
