Donald J. White, age 79, of Cape Canaveral, FL, a former resident of Newington and Clinton, died on October 5, 2026. He was born on April 20, 1947 in Hartford, CT, the son of John and Mary O’Sullivan-White. Don was the beloved husband of Bernadette Wynne-White who survives him. He is also survived by three children, Edward (Amanda) White of Chester, Catherine (Greg) Bonin of Old Saybrook, and Maureen White of Chicago. Don had six grandchildren, Katie Bonin, Annmarie Thayer plus Heather, Kristen, Caroline and Madeline White; two great-grandchildren, Joey and Allie Barrera as well as ten nieces and six nephews.
Mr. White was predeceased by his son, Stephen White and great-grandson, Jacob Barrera.
Mr. White retired from the State of Connecticut D.O.T. as a State Manager in the Office of Tolls & Concessions and Management Services. Sir Knight Don was an active member and officer of the Knights of Columbus for Council #3834 & 4826 as PGK. He also was active in the Fourth Degree Color Corps Honor Guard in Connecticut.
Don was an active member of Our Saviour’s Church in Cocoa Beach, FL where he served with St. Vincent DePaul as a case worker, Sacristan and Eucharistic Minister. He also served many charities including Respect Life.
Don belonged to the Irish American Home of Glastonbury, CT, New Haven, the Hurling Club of East Haven, CT and the CT Police Emerald Society with his love and support for all.
Visitation will be held on Monday October 12, 2026 at the Robinson Wright & Weymer Funeral Home, 34 Main St., Centerbrook, CT from 5:00 until 7:00pm. A Funeral Mass will be held Tuesday October 13, 2026 at 11:00am at St. Joseph Church, 48 Middlesex Ave., Chester, CT. Burial will follow in St. Joseph’s Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made in his name to St. Vincent DePaul, Our Saviour’s Church, 5801 N. Atlantic Ave., Cocoa Beach, FL 32931 or St. Joseph’s Church, 46 Middlesex Turnpike, Chester, CT 06412.
