Donna Marie Lisi Galuardi passed away peacefully at home after a long courageous battle with cancer with Tom by her side. Donna was a beloved teacher in the Haddam Killingworth School System for 30 years. She was passionate about her students and always added a touch of humor to her lessons. She enjoyed going to breakfast and lunch with her former colleagues and friends. She was an enthusiastic Mrs. Claus on the Essex Valley Railroad steam train where she took great pleasure entertaining the children, a carry over from her teaching profession. Donna also adored her two grandsons Justin and Jaxon and always would bring them a "surprise". Donna also took great pleasure in going to the beach. She really liked the ocean beaches in Rhode Island and sitting under the umbrella reading a book. Nags Head was another beach destination she enjoyed. Gazing out at the ocean from her beach chair. Donna and Tom took many car rides along the Old Saybrook and Madison shore and eating bagels at Hammonasset State Park on Sunday mornings. She took great pride in her cars. Especially her red Jetta, red Mini Roadster and her blue Audi convertible. When the sun was out she would put the top down and drive with a big smile.
Donna is survived by her husband of 52 years Tom, her son Nick and his wife Kristin and their two children Justin and Jaxon, her daughter Alison and her husband Jeremiah Turpin. She also leaves behind her brother Richard and his wife Brenda.
In lieu of flowers a donation to the Westbrook Visiting Nurse Association in Westbrook, Connecticut would be appreciated. They took great care of her.
