Dorothy “Dottie” Sprague, 86, formerly of Killingworth passed away peacefully on March 29, 2024. She was the beloved wife of the late George Sprague. Born on August 14, 1937 she was the daughter of the late Lawrence Sullivan and Pearl (Morrell) Sullivan. Dorothy worked for Helander Products for 25 years until her retirement. She was a longtime member of the Congregational Church in Killingworth where she did volunteer work, sang in the church choir and was a member of the Wednesday Eves ladies group. Dorothy also volunteered with the Killingworth Seniors, United Methodist Church Choir in Clinton and was a former literacy volunteer. Dottie loved to walk and swim at Chatfield Hollow, do crossword puzzles and spend time with her many friends and neighbors. Dorothy loved her grandchildren and spent many wonderful times having sleepovers with her grandchildren that lived nearby and taking them to the beach, park and library. She also enjoyed traveling around New England with her husband and found great comfort in her cats. In addition to her husband, George, Dorothy is predeceased by her sisters Naida Peterson and Ruth Hopkins and brothers William and Wayne Sullivan. Dorothy is survived by her beloved daughter Patricia Brayshaw and her husband Alan Brayshaw of Middlefield, son, Brad Megahan and his wife, Diane of Bradenton Florida and son Bruce Megahan of Parrish Florida. Dorothy also leaves behind her beloved grandchildren Nicole Sims and her husband Conner, Talia Megahan, Danny and Drew Megahan and wife Merle, Hamilton and his wife Jasmine, Ava Brayshaw and her great-granddaughter, Braleigh Brayshaw. The family also extends gratitude beyond measure to the staff at the Connecticut Baptist Home for their kindness and loving care.
A celebration of life will take place on April 13, 2024 at The Congregational Church in Killingworth (273 CT-81 Killingworth, CT 06419) at 11 A.M.
