Elva Jewell Carlson

Born on November 7, 1948, in Presque Isle, Maine, Elva was the daughter of the late Josiah and Laquita (Ireland) Jewell. At the time of her passing, she was a longtime resident of Chester, Connecticut.

Elva was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother whose kindness, generosity, and unwavering love touched everyone who knew her. She had a heart of gold and found her greatest joy in caring for those she loved. Her family will forever remember her gentle spirit, selflessness, and the countless ways she made others feel loved.

Elva's wish was to remain at home during her final days, and that wish was made possible through the love and dedication of her son, Darrell; her sister, Cindy; and dear family friends Sherri, Debbie, and Susan. Their compassion and support allowed Elva to spend her final days in the comfort of her home, a gift for which her family will always be deeply grateful.

The family also extends their heartfelt appreciation to the compassionate caregivers of Hartford Healthcare at Home and Middlesex Hospice at Home for the exceptional care and support they provided to Elva and her family during her final days at home.

Elva is survived by her beloved husband, Alvin Carlson; her son, Darrell Carlson (Tonya); her sister, Cindy (Bill) Reiman; her brother, Mark Jewell; her grandchildren; Tannar Carlson, Chloe Carlson, Thea Carlson, Cassidy Carlson and Richie Carlson, as well as many cherished family friends; and numerous extended family members.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Josiah and Laquita (Ireland) Jewell, and her sons, Victor Carlson and Richard Carlson.
