Frances E. Confrey

Frances E. (Champion) Confrey, 94, of Deep River, widow of Robert E. Confrey, died on Thursday (August 13, 2026). Frances was born in Old Saybrook on June 10, 1932 and was the daughter of the late Allen and Virginia (Varney) Champion. After retiring from L.C. Doane Company, she and her late husband enjoyed antiquing and visiting historical sites and museums. Frances loved taking care of her beautiful iris, feeding the birds and crocheting. She also loved animals and always had a dog and an occasional cat. After moving to Kirtland Commons, she enjoyed ceramics, bingo and other activities.

Frances was predeceased by her siblings, who she missed very much, May Clark, Betty Ray, Ann Rand and Richard Champion. She is survived by her brother, Robert Champion, her best friend Katherine Fitzpatrick, seventeen nieces and nephews and many grand and great grand nieces and nephews. Services will be held on Friday, August 21, 2026. Last goodbyes will be at Robinson, Wright & Weymer Funeral Home in Centerbrook at 10:30 am, followed by a graveside service at Cypress Cemetery in Westbrook.
