Marguerite Ann Todaro

Marguerite Ann Todaro 94, of Ivoryton, Connecticut, passed away peacefully on August 30, 2026. She was born on July, 26, 1934 in Middletown, CT and was the beloved daughter of Albert and Florence Stielau. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Todaro; her son, Jim Todaro; her sister, Nancy Johnson; and her brothers, Robert and Albert Stielau. She is survived by her son, Dave Todaro and his wife, Ruth; and her daughter-in-law, Joanne Todaro. She was a loving grandmother to Joey Todaro and his girlfriend, Prescilla Balbon; David Todaro; Samantha Todaro; Jessica Sanderson and her husband, Pete; and Jeanna McCann and her husband, Andy. She was also the great-grandmother of Anthony, Isabella, and Miya Todaro; Noah and Josh Sanderson; and Haylie, Hannah, and Connor McCann. Marguerite graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School in 1950. She was married on August 19th, 1951, to her husband, Joe, who was serving in the Korean War. They raised their two boys together and were happily married for 65 years. They enjoyed simple pleasures like sitting together in their kitchen watching birds from their large picture window and taking trips, especially to Saratoga and to visit family. Marguerite took great pride in raising her boys and caring for her family. She also taught Sunday school for many years at their local church. She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who was devoted to being part of her family’s lives; attending sporting events, school activities, and any occasion where she could support her family. She raised her children and hosted multiple generations on Hickory Lane in Ivoryton, where she made a warm and beautifully decorated home. She loved gardening and spent many happy hours creating a welcoming yard filled with flowers, a space often used for playing, yard games and Easter egg hunts. She loved bringing everyone together for holidays, especially Easter and Christmas, creating memories that her family will always treasure. She had a special way of adding thoughtful touches that made every gathering feel memorable, from beautifully setting the dining room table with her favorite plates, serving pieces, and holiday poppers to making her sons’ favorite chocolate cream pie. Her family will always remember the laughter and joy of being together around her table. Marguerite spent the last few years at Crescent Point in Niantic. We would like to deeply thank the staff for their loving care and support. She was very happy and made many friends during her time there. Marguerite will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. She carried herself with gentle grace and took great care in her appearance, her home, and her garden. Her warmth, kindness, and deep love for her family will always be remembered.

A wake will be held on Saturday, September 19, from 9:30–10:30 a.m. at Robinson, Wright & Weymer Funeral Home, 34 Main Street, Centerbrook, Connecticut. A funeral service will follow at 11:00 a.m. at Essex Congregational Church, with burial at 12:15 p.m. at Centerbrook Cemetery. A reception will follow the burial.
