Nancy (Lindner) Stadalnik, passed away on June 3, 2026, at the age of 83. She was born on October 15, 1942, the daughter of the late Harry Lindner and Lillian (Dudley) Lindner Haser. She grew up in Deep River and graduated from Valley Regional High School, where she excelled in sports and was voted "Most Athletic" by her classmates. She then went on to graduate from Stone College.
Nancy met her husband, David, while working at Armstrong Rubber Company. Family members recall the story of their first date, when Nancy had to let David win a game of bowling because he refused to leave until he won. Somehow that first date blossomed into a marriage that lasted 51 years until David's passing.
After leaving Armstrong to raise her family, Nancy devoted herself wholeheartedly to her children, family, and friends. For Nancy, nothing brought a greater sense of joy and fulfillment than being surrounded by the people she loved. She could often be found chauffeuring her children and their friends around town, volunteering as a softball coach, serving as a Girl Scout leader, acting as a room mother, and stepping forward whenever help was needed. Her generosity and willingness to give her time touched countless lives.
Nancy later returned to the workforce and served the Town of Essex, first in the Selectman's Office and later as Tax Collector. Even when taxes weren’t due, residents would come in and visit her because of how friendly she was.
Nancy embraced life with enthusiasm and joy. She loved to spend her summers swimming, fishing, and crabbing, and enjoyed gathering with family and friends for card games and laughter. She was blessed with a sunny disposition and had an effortless gift to bring joy to those around her. Her warmth, sense of humor, and love of family created lasting memories for all who knew her.
Nancy is survived by her son Brian Stadalnik (Deborah) and daughters Susan Quatrano and Cindy Munawar (Imran), her grandson Zack Munawar, her brother Tom Lindner (Kris), as well as her beloved nieces and nephews. Besides her husband and parents, she was also predeceased by her twin sister Diane Sexton (Richard).
