Thomas Frank Miksa

Tom was a lifelong resident of Chester. Born to the late Frank and Eunice (Breslin) Miksa, he is survived by Sylvia (Sypher) Miksa, the love of his life for (married for) 54 years (together for) 58 years; his daughter, Nicole (Rob); his son, Ryan (Kathryn); his brother, John (Valerie); and many beloved family members and extended family members.

Tom loved the family farm he and Sylvia shared down in the Hollow. They raised their 2 amazing children in the tradition passed down by generations before them. They taught them to live simply and humbly.

He loved home, but he also had a gypsy spirit. He and Sylvia were always up for an adventure. Once the children came along, they became family adventures. Later in life they looked forward to spending the winter months in Florida with John and Valerie.

Tom was a hardworking, devoted family man. He loved UCONN basketball. He loved the history of Chester and enjoyed sharing stories with other locals. He loved riding motorcycles, loved animals and tinkering around his property.

He graduated from Valley Regional High School in 1970 and enjoyed reconnecting with classmates, serving on the reunion committee for many years.

Tom had a powerful sense of community. He proudly served with The Chester Hose Company for over 55 years. He has held many positions within the department over the years. Always inspiring other members and encouraging new people to join the volunteer family.

The family invites you to join them at a celebration of life on Saturday, July 25, 2026, at Noon at Chester Hose Company.

A private family burial will be held at a later date at Fountain Hill Cemetery.
