Victoria (“Torie”) Laskowski, 70, joined her parents and other loved ones in heaven on Monday, October 27, 2025, after a long battle with dementia. Torie was born on February 5, 1955 in Middletown, CT to Stanley and Genevieve (Miezejeski) Laskowski.
Torie was a special daughter, sister, aunt, cousin and friend. Torie was blessed to live at home with her family up until the last few years of her life when complications from dementia moved her to skilled nursing care. Anyone who had the pleasure of getting to know Torie loved her. She was really a social butterfly who wasn’t afraid to shake your hand, pull up a chair and give you a kiss whether she knew you or not. She cherished her family and her friends, especially those she worked with at Kuhn Employment Opportunities where she was a dedicated, hard worker for over 45 years. At work and at home she was always willing to lend a hand an ask “Can I help you?” and quickly after say “I love you!” Torie loved bowling with Special Olympics, racing home from work to catch the last half of “Guiding Light”, and binge watching “Little House on the Prairie” on the weekends. She spent time writing notes to friends and family, singing and listening to music – Especially anything-polka, Michael Jackson, Neil Diamond, and Mario Lanza. All of this in between trying to see how many extra pickles she could add to her tuna fish sandwich in her lunchbox before anyone could object. She loved her family, loved going to church and couldn’t wait for the next birthday or Christmas to start writing her wish lists, and reminding Mommy to schedule a haircut and perm, and have her nails painted red for the occasion. She did all of this before it turned 9:00 on the dot on her watch and she had to hop in bed like she would turn into a pumpkin.
Torie will be dearly missed by her family. She leaves behind her two sisters, Christine Tisdale and Paula Laskowski, her niece Amy Tisdale, great-nephews Maximus, Gabriel and Finnegan, nephew Eric Tisdale (Anne Ahern), great-niece Sydney Mischissin (Michael), and many cousins and friends. Torie is predeceased by her father, mother, brother Stanley and brother-in-law Brian.
A special thank you to the staff at Aaron Manor for the compassionate care and support they provided to Torie during her stay there.
Visitation will be held at Robinson, Wright & Weymer Funeral Home, 34 Main Street in Centerbrook on Monday morning, November 3rd from 9AM to 10AM, followed by a procession and Mass of Christian Burial at Saint Joseph’s Church, 48 Middlesex Ave. in Chester at 10:30AM. Burial will be privately held at a later date. Memorial donations may be made in Torie’s name to the Kuhn Employment Agency in Meriden, CT.
