GERNERT - Ernest B., 82, formerly of Huntington, on February 24, 2018, passed away peacefully with his daughters by his side, in Las Vegas, NV. He was preceded in death by his second wife, Beatrice; his sister Dolores Wolfe; his son, Ernest B. Gernert, Jr. and his daughter-in-law, Irene Gernert. Loving father of Kathleen A. Ryan (Joseph), and Elizabeth Sclafani (Steven). Cherished brother of Marie Loring. Dear grandfather of Miranda, Matthew, Patrick, Steven, and Daniel. Also many loving nieces, nephews, stepchildren, stepgrandchildren, and step-great-grandchildren. Will be missed by devoted friends. Adored his grand-dogs and grand-cats. Proud U.S. Army veteran; USPS Letter Carrier in Huntington for 40 years; part-time bartender at Sam's in Greenlawn; Security Officer at Sands Convention Center, LV, NV. Avid fan of the NY Yankees and NY Giants. Eastside Cannery Bingo player. Memorial Service at O.B. Davis Funeral Home, 2326 Middle Country Road, Centereach, NY, on Thursday, April 5, 2018, from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. Burial private.
