
Frank Alfred Seiferth, age 99, of Williamsburg, Virginia, a practicing Roman Catholic passed away peacefully and fittingly on Easter Sunday. The patriarch of the family was predeceased in death by his wife of 66 years, Dorothy. Born in the Bronx, New York to Edwin and Blanche Seiferth of German and French descent, the youngest of three children who Included his sister, Adeline who he adored. Frank served in WWII on the fletcher-class destroyer USS Bearss as a petty officer Radioman Second Class. Patrolling the waters of the north Pacific the Bearss protected the Aleutian Islands off the southwestern end on what was known then as the Alaska Territory. The Bearss was one of the first Naval vessels arriving in the Sea of Japan and Mutsu Bay after the formal Japanese surrender in September 1945.
After his discharge from the Navy in 1946 with the help of the GI Bill, he attended Columbia University and later CW Post College. At the Standard Oil Company (ESSO) located at the time in Rockefeller Center New York is where Frank met his beloved wife, DOttie. Frank and Dorothy married in June 1951 settling for a time in Fresh Meadows and then raising their four children, Frank, James, Joanne, and Patricia in Great Neck, NY. His chosen profession was accounting serving in various roles, primarily at Litton Industries and the Grumman Aerospace companies on Long Island. Frank and Dorothy retired in 1995 to Ford's Colony in Williamsburg, Virginia. There they found many friends and acquaintances throughout the years of volunteering their time and talents at St. Olaf's Catholic CHurch where Frank sang in the Sunday Mass choir and Dottie served the food pantry among other efforts including the building of the new Church campaign. They also volunteered with much enjoyment at Colonial Williamsburg or "CW". They served for many years at one of CW original restored houses (1719) Owned by St. George Tucker a law professor at William and Mary College. They also served many years in varying volunteer capabilities with the Sentara Williamsburg Regional Medical Center.
Frank who would have marked his 100th birthday on August 18th celebrated his life with a warm heart and always with a gracious and welcoming smile. He gave of himself to all, never asking for anything in return. His pay it forward was his gentle demeanor, Love of God, Love of Family and Love of Country. He was a joy to be around especially in his later years watching him get to know his 12 Grandchildren and 2 Great Grandchildren.
Frank is survived by his four children and their spouses, Frank (DIane), Jim (Sandy), Joanne (Briand) and Patricia (Alfred deceased, George). Additional family members include twelve grandchildren, Nicole, Erik, Kristin, Alex, Adeline, Bill Feaster Jr, Caroline Feaster, Brendan, Dylan, Ryan Patrick (Deceased) Boesch, Erica and Emma Henry; and two beautiful great-grandchildren, Sadie and Grace.
A Celebration of Life Mass is planned in Williamsburg, Virginia at St. Olaf's Catholic Church on July19th at 11:00 AM. A family reception will be held immediately preceding at 10 :00 AM.
