John F. DaSilva

John F. DaSilva, of Centereach, passed away peacefully on September 8th at the age of 76. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend whose thoughtful nature, resilience, and generous spirit touched the lives of everyone who knew him.

John’s greatest love story began 42 years ago when he met his beloved wife, Luz, at Palm Tree in Queens. What began as a meeting blossomed into a beautiful life together filled with love, laughter, family, and countless cherished memories. Their 42 years together were a testament to the enduring love and devotion they shared.

John leaves behind his beloved wife, Luz; his children, Briana (Matthew), Steven, John Jr., and Zorina (Joe); and his grandchildren, Giovanni, Nitalya, Jeremiah, and Micah, who brought him immense joy and pride.

He is also survived by his siblings, Patsy, Ramona, Diane, Brenda, Vanacio, Norman, Susie, Terrence, and Jerome, along with many extended family members and dear friends who will forever carry his memory in their hearts.

John was truly a jack of all trades. He had a remarkable ability to build, fix, and create just about anything. His creativity could be seen in everything from birdhouses to furniture, and he took pride in working with his hands and bringing his ideas to life.

Professionally, John worked as a tool and die maker for Duro Dyne. Earlier in his career, he worked for Merzon Leather. His dedication, skill, and work ethic were a reflection of the resilient man he was.

Outside of work, John enjoyed the simple pleasures that made life special. He loved dancing and music, especially the oldies. He enjoyed traveling and making memories with his loved ones, whether on a cruise or exploring destinations such as Jamaica, Puerto Rico, Antigua, and Las Vegas. Wherever he went, John found a way to enjoy the journey.

John’s pets were also an important part of his life. Poochie, Princess, and Crystal, who crossed the rainbow bridge before him, are now there to greet him. His beloved pup, Destiny, will miss the belly rubs and the love John so freely gave her.

John will be remembered as a thoughtful, cherished, and resilient man—a loving husband, devoted father and grandfather, talented craftsman, music lover, traveler, and friend. He gave his family not only his love, but also a lifetime of memories that will continue to live on through them.

Though he is no longer with us, John’s love, laughter, creativity, and spirit will remain in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.

Rest peacefully, John. You were deeply loved, and you will be forever missed.
