

Born in Brooklyn, New York, John was the beloved son of the late Peter and Madeline (Baretta) Temperino. He was proud of his New York roots and the life he built through hard work, dedication, and love for his family. John was a second-generation owner of Temperino’s Meats in Brooklyn, New York, proudly continuing a family tradition and serving the community for many years.
John also proudly served his country in the United States Army.
John was known for his incredible strength and determination. After surviving a serious motorcycle accident in 2007, John faced the challenges that followed with courage and perseverance, pushing forward and demonstrating the remarkable strength of character that defined him. Through it all, he continued to appreciate the moments that brought him happiness. He had a genuine love for cooking and took great pleasure in preparing meals for the people he loved.
John leaves behind his loving partner of 26 years, Linda Weitz of Coram, New York; his daughter, Dawn Temperino of Farmingdale, New Jersey, affectionately known to him as “Monkey,” a special nickname that will forever remind her of the love and bond they shared; and his beloved granddaughter, Gianna, who brought a special happiness to his life and filled his heart with endless love, laughter and joy.
John was also a cherished part of Linda’s family. He is survived by his stepdaughters, Jennifer DePalma and her husband Rich, and their children, Isabelle, Charlotte and Vivian; and Lisa White and her husband, Dave, and their daughter Lillian. John was lovingly known as “nine-nine,” a special name that reflected the love and affection they shared with him.
John is also survived by his son, Peter; and loving sisters, Gina Pitonza and her husband Vinny; Frances Mirelli and her husband Jerry; Louise Riehl and her husband Lou, as well as many loving nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends who will cherish his memory.
John will be remembered for his strength, his kindness, his loving heart and his willingness to always put the people he loved before himself. He will be deeply missed, forever loved and never forgotten.
Visitation will be held on May 21, 2026, from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the O.B. Davis Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held on May 22, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at Calverton National Cemetery, where John will be laid to rest.
