Marie Horbatuk

Marie Horbatuk, 85, of South Setauket, NY, passed away peacefully on December 26, 2024. Born on April 20, 1939, in Brooklyn, NY, Marie was a beloved wife, mother, sister, aunt, and friend whose warmth and love will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

Marie was the devoted wife of 58 years to the late Theodore Horbatuk. Together, they shared a beautiful life, raising their daughter, Elisa Horbatuk, and cherishing her husband, Vivek Sra. Marie was a loving sister to Lucy Wood (and her late husband Dexter) and was predeceased by her brother Fred Rabasca (and his late wife Antoinette). She was also a treasured aunt to Susan Gannon, Steven Wood, and Jennifer Granito, whom she held close to her heart.

Marie and Theodore made their home in Staten Island, NY, for 50 years, creating a lifetime of memories before relocating to Ridge, NY, in 2016. They shared a love for travel, frequently visiting the Adirondacks in upstate New York, a place that held a special place in their hearts. Later in life, they discovered the joy of cruising and embarked on memorable trips to Alaska, Bermuda, and Nova Scotia.

Marie was a passionate reader, immersing herself in mystery novels, and an avid quilter, crafting beautiful creations with care. She was perhaps best known for her cherished Christmas morning breakfasts, a tradition she lovingly upheld for her extended family, who brought her immense joy. Above all, Marie’s greatest love was her family, whom she adored and placed at the center of her life.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, December 29, 2024, from 2-4 PM and 6-8 PM at O.B. Davis Funeral Homes, 2326 Middle Country Road, Centereach, NY 11720. A prayer service will take place at 7 PM. A closing prayer will be held on Monday, December 30, 2024, at 10 AM, followed by interment at Calverton National Cemetery, 210 Princeton Blvd., Calverton, NY 11933.

Marie’s love, kindness, and devotion to her family and friends will forever remain in the hearts of those she touched. She will be deeply missed but lovingly remembered.
