A native of Guttenberg, NJ, Mildred was a passionate advocate for people with disabilities. She cherished time spent with her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed movies, reading, traveling, puzzles, polka dancing, and was always ready for a game of Scrabble. Mildred was a devoted member of Our Lady Queen of Peace Parish, where she served on the Right to Life Committee for several years.
Preceded in death by John P. Balles, her beloved husband of 64 years, and siblings, Elizabeth Fritzky Malik and James Fritzky. Mildred is survived by her children: Annamary Krehley and husband Bob of North Wildwood, NJ; Peter Balles and wife Lilian of Washingtonville, NY; Monica Warne and husband Dennis of Fredericksburg, VA; John Balles and wife Annette Paré of Waxhaw, NC; Patricia Maxwell and husband Charles of Pittsford, NY; Frances Goodman and husband William of Centereach, NY; and Christine Balles of Spectrum for Living in Rockleigh, NJ. Loving grandmother of 14, great-grandmother of 14, and many nephews and nieces. There are no words that can express how grateful and blessed we are for the compassionate care Mildred received in her final years from Linda as well as the spiritual support Mildred received from Rev. Patrick Abu-Bonsra of St. Margaret of Scotland R.C. Church. We will miss her witty responses, positive outlook in spite of adversity, and jolly laugh.
