Belinda "Kay" Carothers

Belinda “Kay” Carothers, age 67, passed away on Friday, July 11, 2025. Kay was a resident of Ethel, LA and was born in Orange, TX. She was a member of Deerford Methodist Church, having joined later in life. A 1975 graduate of Zachary High School, she was actively involved in the Lions Club for many years. Her love for animals was well known, especially her cherished miniature 600-pound pot-bellied pig, Sausage. She enjoyed attending events with her grandchildren whenever possible, found relaxation in reading and playing games on her phone, and was deeply dedicated to her family and neighbors.

Kay is survived by her son, Jonathan Carothers; grandson, William Carothers; granddaughter, Georgia Carothers; sister, Sandra Lewis (Clay); brother, Jimmy Key (Lisa); niece, Becky Lewis; nephews, Ricky Lewis, Cliff Key, Joey Key and Robin Key; as well as their spouses, children and additional family members.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Charlie Ross Carothers; father, J. Lester Key; mother, Georgia L. McCoy Key and brothers, Quinton Key and Thomas Key.

A visitation for Kay will be held on Saturday, July 19th at Central Funeral Home from 11AM to 1PM; with a funeral service beginning at 1PM, officiated by John Barnet. Burial will follow at Blackwater Methodist Church Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Deerford Methodist Church in honor of her memory. The support and prayers from the church community have been a source of comfort and strength for our family during this difficult time.

We would also like to extend heartfelt thanks to Melissa Sanders and Lisa Key, whose unwavering presence and dedication in bringing her to treatments meant so much. Special appreciation goes to Mr. Bruce Norwood and the many neighbors who generously helped maintain her property and cared for her beloved animals. Your kindness and support have made a lasting difference, and our family is deeply grateful.
