Carmen Elaine Richard

Carmen Elaine Richard, age 69, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on July 28, 2025. She was born in Opelousas, LA and a resident of Greenwell Springs, LA. Elaine found great fulfillment in her work, most notably in developing and overseeing the Medicaid Purchase Plan and leading the NPP Advisory Council. Her dedication left a lasting impact on those she served. A passionate supporter of LSU athletics, Elaine proudly cheered for the football, baseball and softball, and women’s basketball teams. Though she had a love for reading and traveling, Elaine’s heart always belonged to her family. Nothing brought her more joy than time spent with her seven children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother whose warmth and presence will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.

Elaine is survived by her children; BJ Richard (Chelsea), Karen Richard LeJeune (Gene), Karla Richard Strupp (Brian), Kreg Richard (Lacy), Kyle Richard (Krisi), Kassie Richard Depew (Cliff), Karmen Richard Cohen (Phil), grandchildren; Dustin Lejeune (Leanne), Krisitin Lejeune, Erik Strupp, Alyssa Strupp, Jake Strupp, Chase Richard (Amanda), Haylie Rodriguez (Marc), Kane Richard, Luke Richard, Olivia Richard, Kayla Richard, Kamron Richard, Keely Richard, Katelyn Bain (Danny Watts), Kelsey Losee (Garrett), Ethan Depew, Jordyn Wilson (Lane), Clayton Fletcher (Taylor), Alyssa Roberie, Bella Roberie, Jaxon Richard, Hayden Landry, Emery Richardson, many great-grandchildren; as well as sisters, Christine Stelly Juneau and Elizabeth Stelly Rodriguez.

Elaine is preceded in death by her loving husband, Bobby J. Richard Sr., parents; Emar and Shirley Stelly, as well as grandparents; Willis and Eve Stelly, and Alex and Theodilla Strute.

Relatives and friends are invited to the Chapel of Central Funeral Home, 9995 Hooper Rd. Central, LA 70818, on Saturday, August 2, 2025, for a visitation beginning at 11:00AM until the memorial service beginning at 12:00NOON.
