

Clifton played softball and basketball, and played in the senior Olympics for many years. Some of his favorite hobbies included gardening, hunting and fishing, feeding, and watching his birds. Clifton was especially fond of his cat “Bat” for more than 21 years. He was a loving son, husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather, and will be greatly missed by those who knew him.
Clifton was preceded in death by his parents, Haney and Lela Wilson Waldrop; brothers, Paul Waldrop, and Alton Waldrop; his sisters, Lela Mae Waldrop, and Winnie Nell Waldrop.
He is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Betty Blacklock Waldrop; his children, Debra Callender and her husband Johnny, Katherine Firmin and her husband Bob, Connie Bennett and her husband Wayne, and Brent Waldrop and Liya K. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Jacob Caruso, Joshua Caruso (Amanda), Clint Callender, Shannon Harrell (Dean), Matthew Bennett (Brittany), Andrew Bennett (Mattie), Luke Bennett (Avery), Haley Waldrop (Luke), and Nathan Waldrop; and his great grandchildren, Sasha, Sammy, and Eloise Ann Caruso, Noah Ducote, Andie Bennett, and Reagan Harrell.
The family extends a special thank you to the staff at St. Joseph Hospice for the last month for their outstanding care and compassion and especially, Renee Batiste, Kimberly, Margaret, and numerous other sitters.
Family and friends are invited to attend the visitation to be held Saturday, November 6, 2021 at Central Funeral Home at 9995 Hooper Rd, Central, LA 70818 from 10:00 am – 11:00 am with a service to follow at 11:00 am. Immediately following the service a celebration of life reception will be held at Central Funeral Home. A private burial will follow in Azalea Rest Cemetery. Central Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
