Donald "Donnie" S. Dickerson

Donald “Donnie” S. Dickerson, 86, passed away on August 23, 2026. Born July 18, 1940, Donnie was a resident of Baton Rouge, Louisiana. A proud Army veteran of the 101st Airborne, he carried forward a steady sense of duty and devotion throughout his life.

Donnie found genuine joy in life’s simple, lasting gifts—time on the water fishing, the shared excitement of LSU sports, and, most of all, being with his grandsons. Those who knew him will remember the quiet strength of his presence and the deep value he placed on family and faithful companionship.

Donnie is survived by his spouse, Jan Radelate Dickerson; son, Tad O. Dickerson; daughter, Madonna Dickerson Bertrand and son-in-law, Neal Bertrand; grandsons, Brendan Bertrand and Owen Bertrand; great-granddaughter, Ainsley S. Bertrand; sister, Sylvia S. Dickerson; and brother, Gary Dickerson.

He was preceded in death by his parents, William H. and Sybil Gryder Dickerson; and brothers, Oliver Dickerson and Lemmie Dickerson.

A Memorial Visitation will be held at Central Funeral Home, 9995 Hooper Rd, Central, Louisiana 70818, on September 5, 2026, from 9:00 am to 10:00 am. A Memorial Service will begin at 10:00 am.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Diabetes Foundation. The family extends special thanks to Laurie Peterson and all the memory care staff at Central Guest House for their kindness and care.
