Donald Eugene Duncan was born November 24, 1938 in Atlanta, GA and passed away on February 8, 2025. Donald was welcomed into his Heavenly home with an assurance that was rooted in his confidence in the promises of his Savior, Jesus Christ, whom he proudly and openly professed and worshipped.
An adoring and selfless husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather, Donald, passed away at his home in Central, LA where he and the love of his life, Evelyn, raised their two daughters and watched their grandchildren and great grandchildren grow up with such an abundance of love, joy and fun that made his home a favorite. From that home, they were known by many for their morning coffee on the porch while offering a welcoming wave and protective eye on carpool drop off.
He grew up and was raised in Forrest Hill, “home of the best dirt in Louisiana”, as he would boast. It’s from there that he and lifelong friend, Ray Willis, joined the U.S. Navy. After serving from 1957-1959, he worked for KCS Railroad in his wife’s hometown of Addis and later retired from Greenwell Springs Hospital. He was a dedicated member of Zoar Baptist Church where he made friends with whom he’d share stories and road trips, especially those with “Dr. T”, to enjoy some of the best food only small towns across Louisiana can offer.
Donald is survived by his wife of 63 years, Evelyn Capps Duncan; daughters and sons-in-law Dana and Ray Altazan and Donelle and Kenny Kwan; grandchildren Erika Altazan, Kourtni Hopkins (Derrick), Kaylee Mouton (John Paul) and Devin Kwan (Emma); great grandchildren Laila Altazan, Luke and Beau Hopkins, Elle and Jett Mouton, and Daniel Kwan; sister-in-law Iris Tolar; nieces and nephews Fulton Tolar (Toni), Cyndi Canella (Brad), Danny Duncan (Rhonda), Robert Duncan (Doris), Beth Dipuma (Donald) and lifelong friend Robert Melder.
He is preceded in death by his parents Harry and Clara Duncan; father and mother-in-law Fulton and Bea Capps; siblings Bruce Duncan and Marlene Herbert; brother-in-law James Tolar.
Visitation will be held at Zoar Baptist Church, 11848 Hooper Road, Baton Rouge, LA 70818 on Friday, February 14, 2025, from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., with a service to begin at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow.
Pallbearers will be Kenny Kwan, Ray Altazan, Fulton Tolar, Derrick Hopkins, John Paul Mouton, and Devin Kwan.
