Johnette “Patsy” Murray passed away peacefully at her home on January 30 at age 92. She was a lifelong resident of Central and loved her community deeply. Her husband John, whom she lovingly referred to as “Honey”, passed away in 2006. From their first home on Hooper Road, to Tanglewood subdivision and finally to the property she loved so much on Sullivan Road, she and John created a wonderful home for their children Patti and Larry and an oasis for their kids and their friends! Patsy loved the towering live oaks on the property and loved sharing them with the world—a multitude of friends and strangers took pictures and celebrated the important occasions of their lives under those oaks. Patsy was laid to rest at a private service on February 4 in the family cemetery located under her cherished oaks, next to her beloved “Honey”.
A deeply spiritual woman, Patsy is celebrating a heavenly reunion with her husband, John Murray, Jr; her parents Frank and Gladys Carpenter; her sister JoAnne McClendon and brothers Larry and “Peanut” Carpenter; and nephew Keith Miller. She is survived by her sister Jerri Cullinan of New Orleans; daughter Patti Devall (Gary); son Larry Murray (Denise); grandchildren Jennifer Copeland, JB Devall, Logan Murray and Lara Murray. Patsy also leaves behind six great grandchildren and seven nieces and nephews.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Hospice of Baton Rouge and loving caregivers Carol, Christina and Latrell.
