Louis Leon Gurka IV

Louis was a lover of life, family, friends, and animals. He had a big heart, and his infectious smile and sense of humor brought laughter to everyone around him. Louis had a nickname for just about everyone he knew, which was one of the many ways he had of making people feel special.

Louis loved playing pool with his uncle, Jason “Unc,” and his cousin, Joey “Cuz.” He had recently become a member of the APA (American Pool Association), where he enjoyed sharing his love of the game.

He also loved being on the water, whether relaxing at the beach, canoeing on the lake, or fishing from a boat. These simple moments brought him great joy and created memories that will be cherished by those who knew him.

Louis will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing and loving him. His laughter, humor, kind heart, and unforgettable personality will live on in the hearts of those he left behind.

He is survived by his loving mother, Darlene Bennett Gurka; siblings and their spouses, Brandy and Kevin Wiggins and Laura and David Babin; maternal grandmother, Juanita Gardner (Jesse); nieces and nephews, Madeline Shay Wiggins, Dylan Tray Wiggins, Morgan Alexis Babin, Audrey Claire Babin, and Louis Chandler Babin; aunts, Susan Smith, Jessica Juneau, Mary Willie, Linda Dupuy, and Debbie Murray; uncle, Jason Bennett; and numerous cousins and close friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, Louis Leon Gurka, III; paternal grandparents, Louis Leon Gurka, Jr., and Mary E. Gurka Williams; maternal grandfather, Wayne Bennett; and his uncles, Jason Juneau, Joey Bennett, Sr., and Flint Smith.

A visitation will be held at Central Funeral Home on Thursday, August 13, 2026, from 10 am until funeral services at 2 pm. Pallbearers will be Jason Bennett, Joey Bennett, Jr., Jacob Juneau, David Babin, Madeline Wiggins, Kevin Wiggins, Duston Lauret, and Chase Davis.
