

Marilyn Duplessis Stephens went home to be with her Jesus on September 26, 2025, after a lengthy battle with Alzheimer’s Disease. She was born, August 27, 1937, in Ponchatoula Louisiana, to Alter and Theresa Duplessis. She was a secretary, homemaker, and a substitute teacher. Marilyn is survived by her loving and devoted husband of sixty-five years, Grover H. Stephens, daughter Patricia Sullivan, son Larry Stephens and wife Liz, daughter Lisa Hudson and husband James, daughter in law Peggy Stephens, nine grandchildren: Michael, Wesley, Austin, Brody, and Cameron Stephens, Eric and Ryan Sullivan, and Victoria and Stephen Hudson, thirteen great grandchildren, one great-great granddaughter, her brother Phillip Duplessis, sisters Helen Ford and Janice Carpenter, and many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her son Michael Stephens Sr., brothers Samuel and Stanley Duplessis, sisters Audrey Langlois and Betty Castor, and parents Alter and Theresa Duplessis.
Marilyn loved her faith, family, friends, fishing, and LSU football. She especially loved working with her flowers, playing with her grandchildren, great grandchildren, and her two dogs, Taco and Belle.
Visitation will be held at Central Funeral home, 9995 Hooper Road, on Tuesday September 30, 2025, from 9AM to 11AM, followed by the service at 11AM. Burial will follow at Roselawn Cemetery, located at 4045 North Street. Brother Glen Mires of Zoar Baptist Church will be officiant of her service and opening prayer and remarks by Daryl Purpera of First Baptist Church Central. Pall bearers are Mike Stephens Jr., Wesley, Austin, Brody, and Cameron Stephens, Jeff Carpenter, and Stephen Hudson.
While we will miss you here on this earth, we rejoice in our assurance that because of the faith we share in Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior that we will one day see you again. We love you and will miss you greatly!
