On April 1st, 2021 the world lost a truly unique and loving young man. Mark Allen Prescott, Jr. was born on December 9, 1988 and passed away at the age of 32. Mark would have his troubles in the world, but you could not ask for a more devoted son, grandson, nephew, cousin or friend. Mark was a “Good Ole Boy” in the best sense of the phrase. He did not care about race or politics or such, if he liked you, you were his friend. Nothing else mattered. You would find him in the woods or on the river in his spare time. Hunting and fishing were his greatest joy, and he would share his spoils with family and friends. Often you would see his eyes light up and his infectious smile beam when he would be boiling crawfish, frying fish or bar b queuing. His fish fries were always something to behold, 5 to 10 big bags of frozen fish, a giant pot, and 5 gallons of oil, and he was the master. The freezer was never short of those bags of fish and if you were hungry he was frying in no time. When asked to do a job or something, he did it right. He did not cut corners, except when it came to grills. His way was better, he improved them. There are many things like this you can say about Mark, but the most important is that he was a very loved and loving young man and he will be incredibly missed. He is survived by his loving family: mother, Shelia Prescott; father, Mark Prescott Sr.; uncle and best friend, Wayne Akins; sister, Christina Landry; step-father, Jim Tingle; grandmother, Mittie Kennedy; his uncles, Wade Prescott and EJ Hano; his aunts, Shannon Prescott, Carolyn Adams, Pam Prescott, Debbie Spillman, Capri Lewis, and Karen Simmons; and numerous cousins and friends. He is also survived by his three babies and best friends, his dogs: Carrigan “Momma Dog” Prescott, Dex “Ole Boy” Prescott, and Klaren “Little Man” Akins. They were his world. He is preceded in death by loving family members: grandfather, James “Paw Paw” Akins; grandmother, Helen “Maw Maw” Akins; grandfather, Darrell Prescott; uncles, Randy and Frankie Akins; aunts, Theresa Troth and Donna Kessler; and cousins, Stephen Prescott, Frankie “Dude” Akins, and Crystal Kessler. Visitation will be held on April 8, 2021 from 3:00 pm to 7:00 pm with a funeral service beginning at 5:00 pm at Central Funeral Home, 9995 Hooper Rd. Central, La. He will be interned at a later date with his Paw Paw and Maw Maw in Greensburg Cemetery. Please visit www.centralfuneralhomela.com to leave condolences to the family.
