Melinda P Young

Melinda P. Young born August 28,1952, passed away at her home March 7, 2025, at the age of 72. Born to Edward and Elizabeth Pettigrew in Belzoni, MS. She was a resident of Central, LA for the past 21 years. Melinda was a NICU RN Nurse for 37 years. Preceded in death by her husband of 47 years Mark Young, her parents Edward and Elizabeth Pettigrew, sister Doris Marino and brother Sammy Ed Pettigrew. Survived by her nieces Terry Marino and Missy McGibboney (Brien), and nephew Steve Marino (Diane). Great nieces Kim Dufrene (Mike), Brittany Evans (Jesse), great-great nieces Aubree Evans, whom she loved beyond measure, Allie Evans, Ada Evans, and great-great nephews Asher Evans and Korbin Dufrene, sister-in-law Mary Anne Mancuso (Gus) and their family. She will be greatly missed by all that knew and loved her. Special thanks to Kenyatta Gill and Megan Nixon with Vital Caring Group for their care, kindness and love over the past year. Melinda will be buried with her husband in Louisiana National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Jude or to The Purple Heart Foundation.
