Muriel Alma Anderson, beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully at home in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, on November 5, 2025, surrounded by the love and care of her daughter. She was 72 years old.
In 2018, Muriel was diagnosed with cancer (multiple myeloma), a challenge she faced with incredible strength, grace, and determination. She placed her full trust in her doctors, following every recommendation and treatment with hope and courage. Through countless appointments, procedures, and hospital stays, she remained resilient and steadfast in her will to keep living life on her own terms. Even when the treatments could no longer keep the cancer from growing, she continued to meet each day with quiet bravery, humor, and love.
During the last few months of her life, Muriel was cared for by her daughter at home, where they shared time filled with tenderness, laughter, and deep connection. Surrounded by love, she found peace and comfort.
Born to Wilhelmina and Millard Bolden on September 7, 1953, in Chelsea, Massachusetts, Muriel was preceded in death by her parents and her older sister, Alfreda, nephew William, and daughter-in-law Jennifer. She is survived by her two children, Halisha and Vincent, and her three beloved grandchildren, Imani, Maliyah, and Mikhail, who brought her immense pride and joy. She leaves behind her twin brother, Millard, and her loving siblings, Tiran, Sylvia, Vincent, Wilma, Gilbert, Belinda, and Prudence, along with numerous nieces, nephews, an aunt, cousins, sister-in-laws, brother-in-law and dear friends who will forever remember her kindness, laughter, and warmth.
Muriel made her home in many places throughout her life. Her children were born in San Diego and Chula Vista, California where she raised them both, and she later spent several years in Seattle, Washington, before eventually settling in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. She loved to travel and embraced every opportunity to experience new places and meet new people. No matter where she lived, she built meaningful connections and made every house feel like home through her warmth, laughter, and kindness.
Throughout her life, Muriel worked hard and gave her best to everything she did. Even while working and managing treatments, she remained independent and took pride in caring for herself. She made it a point to keep in touch with friends and family, sharing her signature humor and joyful spirit. She loved to laugh, to have fun, and to make others smile, qualities that defined her and will continue to live on in the memories of those who knew her best.
Muriel had a natural gift for making others feel seen and valued. Whenever she met someone new, she was sure to ask their name and offer a kind word. It was her way of sharing warmth and grace wherever she went, a small gesture that left a lasting impression on everyone she encountered.
She loved her family deeply and took great pride in spending time with them and showing up in any way she could. She never asked for anything in return and always tried not to be a bother to others. Her quiet strength, selflessness, and unwavering love were the foundation of who she was and what she gave so freely to those around her.
She had a beautiful smile and a bright spirit that lit up every room she entered. Full of optimism, she encouraged everyone to see the good in themselves and to strive to be their best. Her light, laughter, and love will be remembered always.
In keeping with her wishes, Muriel will be cremated, and her ashes will be spread at her mother’s gravesite, a place that held deep meaning to her. A celebration of her life will be held at a later date, where family and friends will gather to honor her memory, share stories, and celebrate the beautiful legacy she leaves behind.
Her strength, love, and laughter will continue to guide and comfort all who were fortunate enough to know and love her.
“Those we love don’t go away, they walk beside us every day, unseen, unheard, but always near, still loved, still missed, and very dear.”
“Well done, good and faithful servant…Enter in the joy of your Lord.”-Matthew 25:23
