Reggie was born in Avoyelles Parish, Louisiana to Cleo Plauche Ducote and Robert (Bobby) William Ducote, Sr. When he was in grade school, Cleo and Bobby moved their growing family to Baton Rouge where Reggie and his siblings attended catholic schools and he recounted many stories about his experiences (and fear) of the nuns.
Reggie was gregarious and never met a stranger. His people skills helped him excel in his work as a UPS driver, making him a favorite personality through the day of the people who received packages from him, and later as a Business Manager with the Teamsters. Always an advocate for the worker, he was passionate about helping others navigate the challenges of working with large organizations and received satisfaction from successfully negotiating better benefits for the employees he represented.
You could catch him watching LSU football in the Fall and LSU baseball in summer. He loved a lively conversation and would never back down from a jovial debate. Reggie was known to tell a dad joke or two, as well.
Reggie loved to hunt and fish, though later in life this morphed to a love of watching his trail cam and enjoying nature as a whole. He enjoyed feeding his family, was a wonderful cook, and his potato salad was unrivaled.
He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Cynthia Socha Ducote, daughters Hannah Ducote, Denise Ducote, and Dawn Ducote, grandson Marshall Ducote, sisters Bonnie Gomez and Jodie Devall (Al Lambert), brothers Curtis Ducote (Brigitte), Rob Ducote (Scott Carter), Michael Socha (Dianne), and numerous nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents, sons Troy Daniel Ducote and Reggie Jr., sister Elizabeth Ducote, parents-in-law Anthony Sr. and Thelma Socha, Patricia (Trisha) Ducote, brothers-in-law Robert (Roy) Devall, Edmund (Ed) Gomez, David Socha, Anthony (Tony) Socha, Jr. , and nephew Timothy Perry.
Visitation will be held at Central Funeral Home, 9995 Hooper Rd, Central, LA 70818, on August 3, 2026, from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm, followed by the Funeral Service at the same location from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm then burial at Blackwater United Methodist Church Cemetery.
