Shirley P Forbes

A true Matriarch of her family, Shirley was a loving Mother, and is survived by her two daughters, Sherry F. Laurent and husband Wayne, and Penny S. Forbes. She was a warm and affectionate Grandmother and Great-Grandmother and is survived by her grandchildren: Joshua Callegan and wife Elizabeth, Codie C. Brown and husband Jason, Emily and Katie Laurent, Louis Laurent and partner Andrew Blanchard, Amy Redden and fiancé Drew Hopkins, and April Redden and partner Austin Leboeuf. And great-grandchildren: Jacob George and Audrey Ann Callegan, Shelbie, Tyler, Hudson Brian, and Walker Brown. Molly Marie May, Rylee Albarez, and Jerryn Wright. Shirley is survived by her sisters Sally P. Flowers and Rosemary P. Richardson and husband Pat, whom she cherished dearly. She was a loving and devoted Wife and is preceded in death by her husband Jerry A. Forbes, whom she was blissfully married to for 57 years. She was preceded in death by her parents, Amelcar Picard and Eula P. Picard; brothers, Amelcar Picard Jr. and Willie James Picard; and grandchildren, Jacob Anthony Callegan and Molly Sue Laurent.

Shirley P. Forbes was born on April 28, 1937, and grew up in Pride, LA on the land her Grandfather homesteaded, later named, Picard Lane. Born to two loving and deaf parents, Shirley helped them communicate with the public from the very young age of 5 years old. She was a devoted daughter and sister and always helped her mother watch over her siblings, especially her little sisters, whom she adored. She married her sweetheart, Jerry Forbes, whom she took great pride in taking care of. She was a well-respected and faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and saw to it that her children and grandchildren had a relationship with Heavenly Father. She loved her two daughters and loved spoiling her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Shirley was an incredible friend to many in her community.

Shirley's love, laughter, and light will forever be missed and eternally cherished by all who were blessed to know her. She now rests in eternal peace, reunited with her beloved Jerry, watching over her family until they meet again.
