Stuart Alexander Starkey, born January 21, 1965, died on September 2, 2026, in Willemstad, Curacao. Born in Mount Isa, Australia, Stuart spent most of his childhood in Central, Louisiana, graduating from Central High School in 1982. At different times in his life, he lived in Australia, Florida, Hawaii, Idaho, Louisiana and Texas, but he was happiest when at sea, whether sailing around the Caribbean or across the Atlantic. He was quick to smile and had a gift for making friends wherever he went. He also proudly served in the United States Army.
He is survived by his partner, Jeannette Brandt, and his brothers, Paul H. Starkey (Janelle), Quade R. Starkey and Jordan L. Starkey, and by his niece, Montana Starkey, all of Western Australia. He is also survived by his uncle David Starkey of the City of Central, LA, and by numerous cousins. He was preceded in death by his father, Kirk E. Starkey, and his mother, Lee Hargraves Starkey.
Visitation at Central Funeral Home (9995 Hooper Road, Central, LA 70818) on Sunday, September 27, 2026, from 4 P.M. to 7 P.M. and on Monday, September 28, 2026, beginning at 10:00 A.M. with funeral service at 11:30 A.M. followed by burial at the Louisiana National Cemetery.
