Thad A. Bridges

Thad was born in New Orleans and resided in Greenwell Springs, LA; where he then graduated Istrouma High School in 1962 and joined the United States Air Force. During his time in the Air Force, he was stationed in Mississippi, Oregon and Libya. After serving for 4 years, he began working at Exxon Refinery; where he eventually retired after working as a electrical supervisor for 36 years. He was a member of Exxon Istroumaland Annuitant Group and a parishioner of St. Alphonsus Liguori Catholic Church for 40+ years. In April of 1967, he married the love of his life, Mary M. Saurage. Thad spent most of his time as a recreational golfer, a fisherman, an avid bowler and a pool player. He enjoyed casino trips, cruising, reading, and working jigsaw puzzles from 3D board puzzles to 2,000 pieces.

Thad is survived by his wife of 56 years, Mary Margaret Bridges of Greenwell Springs, LA; son, Lynn Bridges (Lisa) of Wiggins, MS; sisters, Carol Murray and Dale Bridges of Bowie, MD; brother, James Bridges (Sue) of Denham Springs, LA; sister-in-law, Catherine Schons of Thibodeaux, LA and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Joseph Thad Bridges, Sr. and Muriel Bridges; brother, Joseph Thad Bridges, Jr.; father-in-law, Walter Saurage; mother-in-law, Marguerite Saurage and brother-in-laws, Cliff Schons, Walt Hays, Jr. and Don Murray.

A visitation will be held on February 19th at St Alphonsus Liguori Catholic Church from 9:30-11AM; with a funeral mass beginning at 11AM officiated by Fr. Michael Moroney. Inurnment will take place at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to St. Alphonsus, St. Vincent de Paul, The American Heart Association, The Wounded Warrior Project, St. Jude Children's Hospital or your favorite charity.

The family would like to extend their thanks to their special neighbors, friends and family during this difficult time. Also a special thanks to the 911 operators, EMS, Sheriff- Central Substation, EBR Parish Coroner Investigator and Central Funeral Home for their professionalism and courtesy.
