

James (Jim) Theodore Reed was known as many things to many people. He was a loved one, a friend, and someone special. To family and friends who knew him best, Jim will be remembered as a very exceptional person. born September 7,1939 in Prairie Grove, Arkansas, he was the son of Charlie and Kate Reed. Jim grew up in Morton, Washington where he was an active child who took part in baseball. He graduated from Morton High School in 1957. Always considered a “good” friend to those he knew, Jim enjoyed a broad group of acquaintances and several very close friends during his lifetime. While growing up, one of his best friends were Charlie Cates, he also continued his relationship with life long friends Duane and Crystal Person as well as Sam Martin. Later in life, he became friends with Neil and Nellie Sackrider, Chuck and Cyndy Lacey, as well as Randy and Cathy Cabe.
On August 4, 2001, but partners for 39 years, Jim exchanged wedding vows with Patty Jetton at his brother in law's home along the Chehalis River of Doty, Washington. Empathic and loyal, Jim was committed to making his new family happy. James worked hard to be a good father to his children and he did his best to fulfill their needs. He was blessed with three children, Cheryl, Jim Jr, and Susan. To continue growing his family he also had his son in law Tom as well as daughter in law Tiffany. Another blessing for Jim was the gift of three grandchildren, Bridget, Abigail, and Delaney.
Fortunately, Jim enjoyed what he did for a living. Showing a strong work ethic, Jim worked diligently and did his best to succeed in his career. He was employed for Bank Check for 35 years, when they closed he went back to school to become a welder. Jim enjoyed his leisure time by taking part in various hobbies. His favorite pursuits were cutting firewood, hunting, fishing, and camping. Jim also found pleasure in sports. In high school, Jim played baseball. Recreational sports were also part of his hobbies. Jim took part in a recreational slow-pitch team and played until he was in his 60's. He was also something of a sports fan and enjoyed following his favorite events whenever he had the chance to do so; tops on his list were baseball and football. Throughout his later years, Jim was an active member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles for 50 years. He enjoyed traveling and time away on vacations. It was a chance for him to renew and relax, to visit new places and experience new things, favorite vacations included Arizona and Hawaii.
Jim passed away on August 21, 2021 at his home in Chehalis, Washington. He fought a brave battle against kidney disease and pancreatic cancer. He is survived by his wife, children, grandchildren, nieces and nephews, and many cousins. Jim will be laid to rest in Morton City Cemetery on August 30, 2021.
Jim was a good and kind person, an individual who will for all time be remembered by his family and friends as being a caring and giving person, someone who was a vital part of their lives. Jim leaves behind him a legacy of life-long friendships and many cherished memories. Everyone whose life he touched will always remember Jim Theodore Reed.
