He also served our country proudly with the United States Navy. John was an avid fisherman from childhood. He fell in love with baseball in the 1930’s, and listened to games on the radio. He hunted duck, pheasant, deer, moose, and elk, and kept bees. John farmed in Puyallup from 1974 to the early 2000’s. He enjoyed watching Westerns on television and on the big screen- in fact, the Western Channel on TV was his favorite. He loved reading Louis L’Amour novels, and was a lover of Navy ‘ditties.’ He was a dedicated family man. John was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Kathleen; his son, Curtis Hedlund; his parents; his brothers, Oscar and Howard Hedlund; and his grandfather, Charlie Crofoot.
