12/13/1950 to 03/13/2022
Mary Mead was born to Richard and Lucille Olson on December 13th, 1950 in Tacoma Washington and was the second youngest of six children. (Shirley, Jean, Karen, Richard, Mary, and Bobby)
At the age of 18, Mary married Bruce Mead, her one and only love of what would have been 50 years on July 5th. Together they had four children; Ricky, Amy, Julie, and Wendy.
Mary was a very hard-working lady and any job she took on, she did so with pride. She retired from Good Samaritan Hospital as a dietary aide assistant after 26 years and continued to find small jobs to keep her busy; she just refused to slow down.
In her free time, you would often catch Mary in her backyard, having a cold Coors while sitting by the fire. She loved sunny days that would allow her to soak up the sun. She was never afraid to do anything by herself. Often times, you could pass her on the highway off to look for elk or find a nice creek to sit by. She would wave with a smile and go on about her way to her next destination. If you did catch her at home, she typically had all the doors and windows open while blasting some old country music and singing at the top of her lungs. Her door was always unlocked during the day and all her kids and grandkids knew to just walk right in.
She was spontaneous, she was free spirited. She was the epitome of "Let's have a good time". She knew that life was short and made it a point to have fun and exert happiness every single day. She was the freshest cup of coffee in the morning, and the warmth in your belly from a home cooked meal. She is the sound of hummingbirds on your front porch. She is the smoke from a fire pit. She will always be with us.
Mary is survived by her son Rick (Diane), daughters Amy (Vlad), Julie (Jason), and Wendy, her eleven grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren, her brothers Richard and Bobby (Bridgett) Olson, her sisters Shirley (Jerry) West and Karen Klein, her sister in law Shelia (Jay) Robinson, and several beloved nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Mary would say that her greatest accomplishment, the one that she took the utmost pride in, were her grandchildren: Sally, Alannah, Sedrik, Rikki, Shamaneice, Katie, Kadeem, Mason, Harmoney, Kaylie, and Neila. As well as her great grandchildren: Dylan, Lucas, Alexis, Ryan, Fallan, Rhylee, Trulie, Malikyh, Bastian, Jensen, Nicholas, Alex, and Brynn. Every one of them held a special spot in their grandma's heart. They were her whole world.
She is preceded in death by her husband of 50 years- Bruce Mead, her father and mother- Richard and Lucille Olson, and sister- Jean.
Mary Mead leaves behind a big family full of loved ones who will greatly miss her.
