I was Tom’s sisters-in-law, married to Jerry. Tom was always a unique personality. We used to joke (when he was much younger) that we would put “whatever “ on his tombstone.

When Tom started to really go downhill with his disabilities, I helped my husband attempt to get a clear picture of his health and Tom and I found a good assisted living home in Yelm.

Tom’s first response was that everyone there were so old. But in his first few months there, he grew to love it and there was a bus to the casino. He knew I always had his back and would be honest with him. I loved him.

Tom said at one Thanksgiving at our house what he was most grateful for in life. (We did not usually do this but we had another family with us that year.) He said it was his son Sean. He said how proud he was of Sean.

I will miss him. I really admired his sense of independence, which he kept, even as his health deteriorated.
