Barbara Creel

Barbara H. Creel, age 90, of Centreville, Alabama, passed away on Friday, July 10, 2026. Visitation will be Wednesday, July 15, 2026, from 12:30-1:30 pm at Brent Baptist Church, Brent, Alabama. Graveside services will follow at 2pm at Pineland Memorial Cemetery, Centreville, Alabama.

Barbara was born on April 15, 1936, to the late Grady P. and Gwendolyn Chism. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Hubert F. Creel and her daughter, Jacqueline C. Fancher. She is survived by her daughter Karen C. Finnen (Dennis) and son, Steve Creel; 6 grandchildren Kevin Finnen (Becky), Kelli F. Palmer (Casey), Landon Fancher (Paige), Whitney Edwards (Colin) and Hailey Nix (Eric) and 13 great grandchildren; her brother, Randy Chism (Denese). She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

There are some very special ladies who over the past 7 years cared for mom around the clock. They have become family, often referring to her as their mom and grandmother. Special names used were ‘Barbara Jean’ and Barbara Helen’. These ladies will always hold a special place in our hearts. Those that were there from the beginning are Sandra Harris, Pamela Griffin, and Willie Ann Murphy. She loved each and every one of them.

Barbara loved to travel and watch Alabama baseball and football. She was invested in her family with her whole heart, and her favorite time was when we were all together at the holidays. She was a woman of amazing character and many talents. She was a beautiful pianist and soprano singer and shared her talents with her Church, Brent Baptist, for many years. In addition to her talent for music, she loved to cross stitch, sew and bake. No one went on vacation without cookies, brownies and a big container of homemade pimento cheese! She enjoyed playing cards as a family and would laugh until she cried….and no one could make her laugh more than her late husband, Hubert. We know she is rejoicing in their reunion in heaven and smiling down on us while we cherish pieces of her passed down to us. Every memory is as special and beautiful as she was.

Pallbearers will be Dennis Finnen, Kevin Finnen, Landon Fancher, Wade Chism, Casey Palmer and Joseph Griffin
