Betty Lou Gaddis, age 81, of Centreville, Alabama entered into rest on Friday February 14, 2020. Betty was born June 11, 1938 to James Hubbard Taylor and Emma Lae (Rather) Taylor. She is survived by her daughter, Eudora Gaddis Cannon of Trussville; sons, Rickie Gaddis of Pennsylvania, Michael Ray Gaddis(Dawn) of Pensacola, FL, James Irvin Gaddis(Donna) of Milton, FL and Michael Coy Gaddis(Ashley) of Huntsville; niece, Wanda Lynn Taylor of Scottsville, KY; and a host of grandchildren and great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband, Rev. Coy Gaddis; her parents, her brother, Harvey Love Taylor and granddaughter, Tanya Lee Gaddis.
Betty was a nurse at Bibb Medical Center and a homemaker for most of her life. She loved taking care of people and had a way of making everyone around her feel special. Her sense of humor and witty sayings will be long remembered. Betty would see the good, and the humorous, side of most any situation and could make the darkest days bright. She was born a problem solver and her determination had no limit. She was a living example of - if there's a will, there's a way.
No surprise that her homecoming was on Valentine's Day, when she reunited with the love of her life after 11 years without him. He left her on St. Patrick's Day, and given their love of a good practical joke, she herself would leave on a holiday to join him. She leaves behind two adored pets, Pepe and Jon Jon, who were well loved by her for the last 15 years. They will continue to be well loved until they are reunited.
Visitation for Betty will be held Tuesday, February 18, 2020 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Brent Methodist Church, Tabernacle Rd, Brent, Alabama. Funeral service will be at 2:00 PM. Burial will follow in Pineland Memorial Cemetery, Centreville, Alabama. Rev. Jim Lavender officiating.
