

Born on February 14, 1945, in Perry County, Alabama, Betty lived a life centered on family, and service to others. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend whose warm heart, gentle spirit, and unwavering devotion to her family touched the lives of many. She found her greatest joy in spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, creating memories that will be cherished for generations.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Wilbur Swindal and Mattie Will Swindal; her first husband, Joe Garner; her second husband, Benny Gore; and her sister, Eileen Swindal.
She is survived by her children, Rachel Thomas; former son-in-law Ronnie Thomas; Robert Swindal (Cathy); Kimberly Gibson (Robert); and Janet Garner; her cherished grandchildren and great-grandchildren; her siblings, Joe Swindal, Florence Mitchell, and Mac Swindal; and numerous extended family members and dear friends.
The family extends their sincere gratitude to the staff and first responders at Bibb Medical Center for the compassionate care, kindness, and support shown to Betty and her loved
ones.
Family and friends are invited to gather for visitation on Thursday, June 25, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at Rockco Funeral Home in Centreville, Alabama. A private graveside service for family will follow at 12:30 p.m. at the Swindal Family Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Howard Mitchell, Phillip Smith, Steven Nichols,
Jaxon Colburn, Robert Gibson, and Greg Colburn.
Though she will be deeply missed, Betty's legacy of love, strength, and devotion to her family will live on in the hearts of all who knew her. Her memory will forever be a source of comfort
and inspiration to those she leaves behind.
