Douglas Wayne Freeman
June 17, 1949 – January 14, 2023

Douglas Wayne Freeman, age 73, a lifelong resident of Lawley, Alabama passed away on Saturday, January 14, 2023. Douglas served in the US Air Force during Vietnam. He was a heavy equipment operator and a member of Friendship Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Floyd Freeman and Merle Smitherman Freeman; and brothers, Alan Freeman and Eddie Freeman. He is survived by his wife of over 50 years, Shirley Smith Freeman; daughter, Julie Freeman; sisters, Elaine Dutton and Nelta Jackson; brother, Charles Freeman; sisters-in-law, Mary Lawley, Linda Gardner and Pat Merchant; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation for Douglas will be held on Wednesday, January 18th from 6PM- 8PM at Rockco Funeral Home in Centreville, Alabama. Service will be Thursday, January 19th at 1PM at Friendship Missionary Baptist Church in Lawley, Alabama, with Bro. Gurvis Smith officiating. He will be laid to rest in Mt. Olive Cemetery, Mt. Olive Church Road, Lawley, Alabama.
