Edgar Giles Shepherd, age 83, of Woodstock, Alabama passed away peacefully at home on Friday, November 18, 2022. Ed was born in Wilkesboro, North Carolina and raised by his loving aunt, Maw Ruby. Ed served in the US Army before he lived all over the United States doing various work as a teamster, truck driver and manager. He retired from Town & Country Ford in Bessemer. Ed was a member of Green Pond Baptist Church. He was an amazing husband, spectacular father and devoted Paw Paw. He spent time with his children and grandchildren fishing and teaching gun safety. He also enjoyed traveling to "Old" Mexico, watching Oklahoma Boomer Sooners football, vegetable gardening and celebrating holidays with family. He had boundless energy and will be forever missed.
He was preceded in death by his aunt, Ruby P. Greene; son-in-law, Jesus "Jesse" Chavez; brother, Bill Sheppard; sisters, Ruth Jernigan and Peggy "Daisy" Easley. He is survived by his wife of 24 years, Lou Farmer Shepherd; sons, Eric Shepherd (Angela), Scott Putman (Amelia) and Chris Putman; daughters, Kathy Shepherd and Mary Helen Seiver (Mike); 14 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; brother, Don Sheppard; sisters, Wanda Nester and Maggie Shepherd; and numerous nieces and nephews.
His funeral service will be held on Saturday, November 26, 2022 at 1:00 PM at Green Pond Baptist Church, with visitation to begin at 12:00 PM. Bro. Carl Hall will officiate. Ed will be laid to rest at Mt. Carmel Cemetery in West Blocton, Alabama.
