

Elizabeth "Libby" Frazier Fitts, age 97, of West Blocton, Alabama entered into rest on Friday, December 4, 2020 at the Bibb Medical Nursing Home in Centreville, AL. Elizabeth was born September 20, 1923. Libby attended Piper-Coleanoor schools until the high school burned in the Summer of 1940. She went on to graduate from West Blocton High School in 1941. It was at WBHS that she met the love of her life, James Robert "Bud" Fitts. The two were married on October 9, 1943. A wonderful marriage of 46 years ended when Bud passed away June 1989. Libby and Bud were parents to Jimmie Lou Fitts Allen(Lyn) of Monroe, LA and Johnny Fitts(Stephanie) of Helena, AL. Libby was grandmother to 4 grandsons, Mike Burtram of Phoenix, AZ, Brad Burtram(Kim) of Monroe, LA, Eric Fitts(Elda) and Evan Fitts all of Helena, AL.
She was great grandmother to Makenzie Burtram, Bailey Burtram, Reece Burtram, Libby Anne Fitts, Ada Fitts and Caroline Fitts; her sister, Margie Stephens of West Blocton and her sister in law, Gladys Fitts Burt of Shelby, AL; and many nieces and nephews.
Libby is preceded in death by her husband, her mother, Lillian McClellan, three sisters, Edith Weimer, Francis Gilbert and Dean Gilbert; brother, Cecil McClellan.
A life long resident of West Blocton for over 70 years, Libby was a member of the West Blocton First United Methodist Church for 50 plus years until the doors were closed. She began attending the First Baptist Church with her sisters. Libby cherished the friendships she had in West Blocton since her teenage years. She was the "historian" of West Blocton and loved her Home Town and the Alabama Crimson Tide.
Due to the COVID, graveside service will be Sunday, Dec. 6, 2020 at 1 PM at Mt. Carmel Cemetery. Rev. Matt Pope officiating. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
