

Franklin graduated Isabella High School in Maplesville, Al, then went on to serve his country in the Unites States Army for over 20 years. After retiring from military service, he continued his dedication and hard work by establishing his own upholstery business, which he ran successfully for more than two decades.
Faith and community were central to his life. He was a devoted member of Rehobeth Baptist Church, where he served faithfully as a deacon, and helped out in many other ways as well.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Edith Belvin Wilson; parents Hubert and Lurlie Wilson; sisters, Edith Wilson, Elrie (Jerome) Conway, and Alma Dean Holley; brother, Prentis Wilson.
He is survived by his daughter, Barbara (James) Smitherman; sister, Ruth (Jerry) Ratliff; brother in-law, Jimmy Holley; sister in-law, Judy Wilson.
The family would like to give a special thanks to his caregiver, Melissa Loveless and Amedisys of Tuscaloosa. In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made to Big Oak Ranch, The Gideon's or Rehobeth Cemetery.
A visitation for Franklin will be held Wednesday, September 24, 2025 from 10:00 am to 11:00 am at Rehobeth Baptist Church inLawley, AL with the funeral service to follow at 11 am. Burial will be in the adjoining cemetery. Officiating James Smitherman.
Pallbearers are Jay Adkins, John Ed Belvin, Jerry Conway, Jerry Conway II, Michal Daniel, Dane Ratliff.
