Harper Foley

Robert Harper Foley, 19, of Dallas, Texas, passed away peacefully on August 23, 2026, following a brief illness. Harper was a bright and cherished sophomore at the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa.

He was born in Kansas City, Kansas, on May 18, 2007, to retired U.S. Army Brigadier General David Clifford Foley and Claire White Foley. Just three weeks after his birth, Harper began his journey as a military child, moving first to Fort Campbell, Kentucky. In his short but beautiful life, Harper experienced the history in our nation’s capital and life in the heart of Fort Hood, Texas. He spent an idyllic year playing in the “dog bowl” at Carlisle Barracks, Pennsylvania, before heading west to Joint Base Lewis-McChord, Washington, where he played manhunt and built igloos in the shadows of Mount Rainier. Next came Tampa, Florida, where he made friends on the fishing pier at MacDill Air Force Base before the moving boxes were even unpacked. After a brief detour back to Fort Campbell, he returned to Tampa and the bay he loved. He had more time there with this assignment and relished life in the warm bay breeze, learning to wakeboard and boat with his family and continuing his passion for fishing.

Though his family relocated frequently, Harper adapted beautifully to each new chapter, finding his way back to his birth state of Kansas to graduate from Lansing High School in 2025.

From the age of three, Harper shared a lifelong passion for soccer. The sport served as a constant anchor through every move. On the pitch, he found some of his closest friendships and was inspired by the many dedicated coaches who helped shape him along the way.

Despite his nomadic childhood, Harper found a deeply rooted home in Brent, Alabama, at the house of his maternal grandparents. There, he and his cousins created irreplaceable memories—riding in their granddaddy’s Kubota, target shooting with their grandmama, spending endless hours fishing and swimming, and developing their love for the Crimson Tide.

Following his father’s military retirement, the family settled in Dallas, Texas. Shortly thereafter, Harper proudly stepped onto the campus of the University of Alabama. There, he pledged the Kappa Sigma Fraternity, instantly building a new home and a lasting bond within his brotherhood.

Harper is survived by his loving parents; his devoted brothers, Franklin Price Foley (21), a senior at the University of Alabama, and Alexander Gates Foley (16), a junior at Highland Park High School in Dallas, Texas; his paternal grandparents, retired U.S. Army Lieutenant General Robert Franklin Foley and Julie Teresa Foley of Alexandria, Virginia; his aunts and uncles, Sara Foley Edwards (William) of Dallas, Texas, Mark Bradford Foley (Kristen) of Santa Rosa Beach, Florida, James Mordecai White, Jr. (Donna) of Brent, Alabama, and Beauregard Moseley White of Annapolis, Maryland; and his cousins, Samuel Moseley White, James Mordecai White III (“Trey”), William David Edwards III, Caroline Foley Edwards, Connor Kidd Foley, and Samuel “Asher” Foley.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Judge James Mordecai White and Katherine Moseley White of Brent, Alabama, and his great-grandmother (“Granny”), Katherine Claire Ivy, of West Point, Mississippi.

Visitation will be held Saturday, August 29, 2026, from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. at Brent Baptist Church, 2446 Main Street, Brent, Alabama. A Celebration of Life service will immediately follow at 11:00 a.m., with the Reverend Dr. Jim Smith officiating. Burial will follow the service at Brent City Cemetery, 166 Middlebrooks Street, Brent, Alabama.

Honoring Harper as pallbearers will be his brothers, Price and Gates Foley; his cousins, Sam White of Savannah, Georgia; Trey White of Brent, Alabama; Will Edwards of Dallas, Texas; and Connor Foley of Santa Rosa Beach, Florida; and his fraternity brothers and roommates, Mason Alexander Owens of Cornelius, North Carolina; Erik William Einarson of Ithaca, New York; John Robert Patty of Knoxville, Tennessee; and Robert Paul Leach II of Westfield, Indiana.

Honorary pallbearers will be the brothers of the Beta Chapter of Kappa Sigma at the University of Alabama; and Harper’s teammates from the Lansing Lions High School soccer team and his club teams, including TC United, Tampa Bay United, Clarksville Soccer Club, Tampa Raiders, and Toca FC.
