Helen Leah Koop, 90, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on March 29, 2016. Helen was born on February 17, 1926 in Gallman, Mississippi. She lived most of her life in Alabama and was a resident of Bibb Medical Center Nursing Home in Centreville, Alabama at the time of her passing. Helen is survived by her two children, Donnie Boone and Carolyn Heise, her five grandchildren, Shannon Boone, Kiefer Boone, Leah Pope, Rikkie Way and John Johnson, and her five great-grandchildren, Kohl Way, Samuel Way, Damien Way, Aiden Johnson and Eli Johnson. She is preceded in death by her parents, William and Edel Pitts; her siblings, William Pitts Jr., Pauline Allen, and Daniel Thomas (D.T.) Pitts, and her husband, Earl Koop. A memorial service celebrating her life was held on April 2, 2016 at Antioch Baptist Church in Centreville, AL.
