Jerry Snipes, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away at DCH Regional Medical Center in Tuscaloosa, Al, on August 8, 2026, just one day after celebrating his 80th birthday. Born on August 7, 1946, in Brent, Alabama. Jerry was the son of the late Garland and Vera Snipes.
Jerry grew up in Brent, where he graduated from Bibb County High School. He went on to serve his country in the National Guard. After his service, he worked in several fields over the years, eventually retiring from BF Goodrich.
A dedicated member of the Brent Baptist Church, Jerry found great joy and solace in his faith and community. He was known for his kind and generous spirit, always ready to lend a helping hand or share a story and laugh. His love for the outdoors was evident in his passion for fishing, turkey hunting, and gardening.
In 1967, Jerry married the love of his life, Jeanette Jones Snipes. Their 59-year marriage was a testament to a profound partnership built on love, respect, and shared dreams. He is survived by his wife, Jeanette Jones Snipes; daughter, Cheryl Snipes Bircheat and son-in-law Mike Bircheat; son, Steve Snipes; and two brothers, Edwin and Wade Snipes.
Pallbearers will be Mike Bircheat, Brody Bircheat, Drew Snipes, Tyler McKinney, Jerry Kornegay, and Dane McKinney.
Honorary pallbearer will be Edwin Snipes.
Services will be held at Brent Baptist Church on Thursday, August 13th, 2026 at 1 p.m. with Bro. Roasco Kornegay officiating.
Visitation will begin at 12 p.m. with burial immediately following the service at Brent cemetery.
