Joe Phillip Horne passed away at the age of 86 on October 15, 2026, after a sudden, brief illness. He was preceded in death by his parents, David Boyd Horne and Alma Duke Horne, three brothers, and three sisters.
Born May 3, 1940, in Heiberger, Alabama, Joe grew up as the youngest of 7 siblings, surrounded by loving parents, extended family, and many stories told on the front porch. Those early years shaped the hard work ethic, generosity, and steadiness he carried throughout his life.
Joe built a life centered on a deep love for his family, farm, garden, and animals. He could repair almost anything, including sewing machines, tractors, and lawnmowers. He loved working with his hands, deer hunting, sharing his garden's bounty, the outdoors, and a funny story.
He leaves behind his wife of 62 years, Edna Crews Horne; daughters Carol Warren and Becky Culp (Darryl); two grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Tim Horne, Mike Horne, Brady Horne, Derek Duke, Jay Toney, Shane Brown, and Chandler Morrison will serve as pallbearers.
Visitation will be held at Rockco Funeral Home, 805 Birmingham Road, Centreville, AL 35042, on October 20, 2026, from 10:30 am to 11:30 am.
A committal service will take place at Bethlehem United Methodist Church Cemetery, 2600 CR-162, Marion, AL 36756, on October 20, 2026, at 12:30 pm.
