Mr. John Avery Doss

John Avery Doss, age 72, of Centreville, passed January 15, 2016 at DCH Regional Medical Center. Visitation will be at 1 p.m., Monday, January 18, 2016 at Rockco Funeral Home Chapel in Centreville; with funeral services to follow at 2 p.m. Interment will be at Pineland Memorial Cemetery in Centreville. He was preceded in death by his father, Webster Doss and his mother, Opal Hobson Doss; his brothers, Ward Doss and Jerry Doss; and his sisters, Geneva Doss Vernon and Janise Doss Roddy. Survivors include his wife, Brenda Wood Doss, of Centreville; son, Shane Doss (Catherine) of Montevallo; daughter, Julie Doss Misch (Carl) of Deltona, FL; sister, Sandra Doss Thomas (Billy) of Tuscaloosa; and grandchildren, Brynna Misch, Mia Misch, Axel Misch, R.J. Doss, and Avery Doss. A lifelong member of Bibb County, John was a graduate of Bibb County High School and was retired from the Transportation Department of the Bibb County Board of Education. John Doss was a loving and devoted husband, father, and grandfather. Auto restoration was always his passion, and he enjoyed classic cars, drag racing, and spending time with his grandchildren. Pallbearers will be Greg Roddy, Scott Sloan, Lee Pinkston, Kenneth Colburn, Curtis Williams, and David Treanor. Honorary pallbearers are Michael Morris, Bob Lonier, Gene Hobson, R.L. Hobson, and Bill Patridge.
