

Johnnie Creel passed away peacefully on May 16, 2026, at the age of 90. He will be remembered as a devoted friend, someone who could always bring a smile to the people around him. He was a member of Lowerytown Baptist Church in West Blocton, AL.
Johnnie was preceded in death by his wife, of fifty plus years, Gloria Brown Creel. He will be laid to rest beside her at Brent Memorial Cemetery.
He was also preceded in death by his parents, James Taylor Creel and Charity Elizabeth Boyd and his siblings, James Ulysses Creel, Marie Hubbard, Boyd (Pick) Creel, Christine Cocke Creel, Carthell Creel, Paul Creel, Frank Creel, Vera Crocker.
He is survived by Franco Crocker, brother in law, JoAnn Creel, sister in law, numerous nieces and nephews and his special friend Carol Hughes. Johnnie proudly served in the United States Navy before beginning a long career with the State of Alabama Highway Department, where he worked as a mechanic until his
retirement. He was respected for his hard work, skill, and willingness to help others.
He loved playing guitar with his friends, spending countless hours sharing songs, stories, and laughter. Those who knew him best knew there was never a dull moment when he was around. He was truly a character, always joking, teasing, and finding ways to make people laugh. His sense of humor and larger than life personality left lasting memories with everyone fortunate enough to know him. He will be deeply missed but fondly remembered for the laughter, friendship, and joy he brought into the world.
